John Doe’s obituary
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of John B. Joe, who departed this life peacefully on July 10, 2026, at the age of 74, surrounded by his loving family.
John was born on January 15, 1952, in Springfield, Illinois, to William and Margaret Joe. He was known for his kind heart, steady character, and unwavering dedication to his family, friends, and community.
A graduate of Springfield High School, John went on to build a successful career as a mechanical engineer, where he earned the respect of colleagues through his integrity, work ethic, and willingness to mentor others. Outside of work, he enjoyed woodworking, fishing, gardening, and cheering on his favorite baseball team. He especially cherished time spent with his family, whether gathered around the dinner table or enjoying vacations together.
John will be remembered for his warm smile, thoughtful advice, and ability to make everyone feel welcome. His generosity and quiet strength touched countless lives and left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Mary Joe; his children, David Joe (Emily) and Sarah Thompson (Michael); his grandchildren, Ethan, Olivia, Lucas, and Grace; his sister, Linda Carter; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Margaret Joe, and his brother, Robert Joe.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 16, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Springfield Community Funeral Home. A celebration of John’s life will take place on Friday, July 17, at 10:00 a.m., with burial to follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to a local veterans’ organization or the American Heart Association in John’s memory.
John’s legacy of kindness, humility, and love will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
